Forgiveness doesn't minimise the offence or call evil good; it releases another person from the debt because we have received a revelation of the far greater grace extended toward us.
When we remember how much we have been forgiven, grace becomes the foundation of how we respond to others. The question is no longer, “How much do they owe me?” but “How much have I already been forgiven?”
